Upcoming Events

Whether you are a new or returning member of JMPLS, you are always welcome to attend events. We encourage you to come when you can (meaning if you cannot, there is no need to fret); you can even bring non pre-law friends! We want you to enjoy everything our organization has to offer! Have an event idea of your own? Email our President Christina Lanier.

Supreme Court Trivia

Location: Founders 2nd Floor Atrium (by elevators)
Date: Tuesday, April 3rd, 2018
Time: 3:00pm-5:00pm

What could be a bigger thrill than to compete among your peers for the honor and respect that comes with knowing more Supreme Court Trivia than anyone else on campus? There is no bigger thrill. Except maybe cheering on as your fellow students compete, while you eat free food. So join us!!! Presiding Justice Dr. Anthony Champagne will be joined by Associate Justice Dr. Euel Elliott and a SURPRISE female justice.

Anyone wishing to compete in the trivia MUST be at the atrium by 3:00pm. All contestants should email Dr. Kirby beforehand so we have a good idea on how many are competing. Any spectators may come and go as they please!

Last General Meeting + Officer Elections

Location: Student Union Phoenix Room
Date: Monday, April 9th, 2018
Time: 10:00am-12:00pm

Our last general meeting of the semester will be a time to provide feedback on events and what you would like to see moving forward. Elections for the JMPLS Executive Board will also be held during the general meeting. Those interested in running should contact Dr. Barbara Kirby and Christina Lanier (see Officers and Advisor page).

1. Only those present in the room can vote. So encourage your DUES PAYING friends to come.
2. You do not have to be present to run. You just need to send the required slide (see below). However, if you’re in Dallas at the time we highly suggest you come see the voters!
3. You have to have paid dues to run. If you intend to run and you haven’t paid, visit Barbara Kirby during her office hours and give her the one time $20 dues.
4. Every candidate is required to send Barbara Kirby a powerpoint slide in advance of the election. The slide should include your name, major, position you’re running for, and what makes you a great candidate. Please send your slide to her by April 8th so we can put the slides together ahead of the meeting.
